This might be bullshit...but

Sometimes people will try and do anything to sue someone now a days. So I take the following with a grain of salt. I dont like McDonalds really, and after seeing Super Size Me, well that is a nother story.

Report of mouse in burger is probed
By Michael Levenson, Globe Correspondent
February 25, 2005

Jeanne Mancuso, finishing up her lunch, said she wasn't worried. She orders salads. Tom, polishing off a burger in his delivery truck, was calm. He checks his patties when he removes the pickles.

Inside and outside the busy McDonald's in Downtown Crossing yesterday, the topic was more fiercely debated than the choice between a Filet-O-Fish and a Chicken McGrill.

Did a customer on Wednesday at the Washington Street McDonald's chomp into a mouse that had been cooked into the patty of his Quarter Pounder with cheese? Or was this yet another chapter in the anthology of urban legends about tiny mammals battered, deep-fried, and chargrilled by fast-food outlets?

No one seemed to know, not McDonald's corporate spokeswoman, regulars at the eatery, or the city Inspectional Services Department, which launched an investigation yesterday.

One thing was certain, though: It was going to take more than a mouse to scare away the devoted among McDonald's customers.

''I don't believe it," said Dorothy, who was sipping a coffee at the McDonald's yesterday and didn't want her last name printed. ''Somebody's trying to pull somebody's leg," she said...

KUTV: Bumbling Burglar Disrobes During Crime

Bumbling Burglar Disrobes During Crime

Feb 27, 2005 11:17 pm US/Mountain

A South Jordan burglary may make the list of Utah's dumbest robberies. A robbery suspect was in the process of rummaging through a house at 9600 South, 4700 West when the residents returned. In a rush to escape, the suspect left his wallet and identification at the scene of the crime.“He was attempting to make access via the internet, some pornography sites and also attempting to dial some 1-900 sexual service numbers. All evidence indicates he disrobed while he was there and that he donned some women’s clothing while he was on the property,” said Sgt. Dan Starks of the South Jordan Police Department.Police arrested the 18-year old suspect at his home where they found the stolen items from the robbed home.

When is it ever going to end?

The attack occurred in Hilla, about 60 miles south of Baghdad, where a suicide car bomber drove into a crowd looking for work at the government office, witnesses said.
The Interior Ministry official, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said 25 people were killed and 71 wounded, and added that the death toll was likely to rise...

Finally Caught the bastard

People's Daily Online -- Serial killer arrested in US after 31 years

A 31-year manhunt for a serial killer who taunted police with letters about his crimes ended when authorities said they finally caught up with the man who called himself BTK and linked him to at least 10 murders.

"The bottom line: BTK is arrested," Wichita Police Chief Norman Williams said on Saturday, setting off applause from a crowd that included family members of some of the victims...

ESA's Mars Express spacecraft saw fields of volcanic cones at the Martian north pole. Some are up to 600 metres high.

This image of the Martian north polar ice cap shows layers of water ice and dust for the first time in perspective view. Here we see cliffs which are almost 2 kilometres high, and the dark material in the caldera-like structures and dune fields could be volcanic ash.

Frozen sea on Mars hints at alien life

In continuation of the first post ...

Mars Express, the European Space Agency's Mars orbiter, has sent back images of a frozen sea just below the surface of Mars. Three dimensional images of pack ice were captured by the orbiter's high resolution camera, and provides the first evidence that there was still liquid water on Mars relatively recently, according to the teams who made the discovery.

Jan-Peter Muller, professor of geomatic engineering at UCL, commented: "This is a historic moment for Mars exploration when a previously neglected region reveals its secrets. Speculation that this area might have water close to the surface have been shown to be correct."

I saw this sign in an e-mail once (funny road signs) I saw it just last week driving back to Knoxville. I was in NC (after the speeding ticket).

Heartbreaking Early report

Truly Sad.

(CBS/AP) The family of a missing 9-year-old girl who disappeared from her bedroom pleaded for her return Friday, calling her an "angel" who needs to be home.

The father and grandparents of Jessica Marie Lunsford cried as they described a girl who they say would never run away...

Star gazers discover first 'dark' galaxy

vnunet.com

British astronomers have discovered a cosmic phenomenon that appears to be an invisible galaxy made almost entirely of dark matter, the first ever detected.

The dark galaxy, which contains a large amount of mass that rotates like a galaxy but contains no stars, was first seen with the University of Manchester's Lovell Telescope in Cheshire, and the sighting was confirmed with the Arecibo telescope in Puerto Rico.

The unknown material that is thought to hold these galaxies together is known as 'dark matter', about which scientists still know very little. An image of the area in which the phenomenon was found can be seen here....

Physically, Sexually Abused Infant Recovering Well

Child Services Officials Say They've Never Seen Baby Survive Such Abuse

UPDATED: 12:49 pm MST February 24, 2005

HOUSTON -- The future looks bright for an infant who was severely abused.

An infant admitted to the hospital earlier this month suffering severe physical and sexual abuse is expected to be released from the hospital in the next few days and make a full recovery, a Harris County Child Protective Services official said.

"We've never seen those types of injuries in a baby that was alive," said CPS spokeswoman Estella Olguin on Wednesday, adding that social workers at the hospital now call her "a little miracle baby."

You know those guys love to get out of state drivers, and hit them with huge fines, cause they know damn well we cannot appear in Court in South Carolina. (angry)

Tipping may be a city in China, Some have questioned my tipping habits of dining in restaurants. Again without knowing the whole story.

I have only gone once without tipping a waitress. That was 1999. Where this person got the idea that I don't tip regularly I have no idea. May have something to do with judging a book by its cover again.

I always tip at least 15% About 99% of the time I tip 20%. Anyone who knows me knows this to be true. The only time I tip 15% is when the waitstaff are absolutely horrible. I once worked on the other side of the kitchen doors. And I know that waitresses get paid shit. I used to get paid $4 per hour. So I know a great deal about how hard these waitresses work.

Way to judge someone with little evidence again.

Headache

Woke up this morning with a headache, I don't normally get headaches. Yesterday went on a spending spree. Finally got myself the iPod 20GB and am now currently filling the thing up. Ashley got a laptop utilizing wireless technology and I got us a wireless hub at home so she can use it here at home. Bought a new Digicam which was a Kodak 3.1MP (as they were coming down in price) and the other day we bought Daniella LOADS of clothes for the spring/summer.

Today I woke up to find snow on the ground again. Which sucks cause I have to go into work today briefly. I also am pissed about getting a speeding ticket Saturday in South Carolina. The thing will cost $200 and I have to pay it by the 28th.

Got to pay the bills too. But right now I am just concerned about my music. They can wait until tomorrow. (Ashley's Birth day - (26)) I have taken tomorrow off from work as well.

You probably can't tell but this is a hellafied Fire Ant mound. These are some mean ass muthafuckas!

Getting close to Florida no doubt.

I saw these and I wonder just what in the hell they are there for. I have seen loads of similar gates in WY before along I-80 but here they were also blocking anyone from exiting the Interstate. Very weird! In WY they only blocked people from continuing on the interstate because of wind hazards I think.

On I-16 going EB to Savannah. Not a one person for miles and miles I bet. Look at the perfectly manicured median! Wow!

Thats why

This type of shit pisses me off.

Nice view of the Sunset.

A "Sun Dog" I just happened to catch driving West on I-40 before Knoxville Tuesday.

Small ass plane I saw in Detroit Last year bound for Toronto. (Damn that's small)

Old photo of a kid I saw in Detroit last year. Titled "Kid with a laptop" :)

2005-02-18

Yep

I went back for 2 more. Damn my mouth is burning now. But the quality of these made it all worth walking over again. The lady saw me again and she smiled. Glad to see I made someone's day. I paid for the 2 and tipped them very nicely.

No receipt avail. :)

Awesome eats

I was feeling pretty hungry just now, so I left the hotel room and since there is nothing here but a Waffle House (I already ate there for lunch today) I got the car keys and was all set to drive off when my nose caught the greatest smell. I saw a sign that said "Club Tropical" but saw smoke wafting from the front of the place. I decided to walk over and investigate. (I made a good choice)

The place is a Mexican club with Mexican music playing loudly inside. Loads of Mexicans outside. The smell was drawing me in. The nice lady said "Hola" assuming I spoke Spanish. Well I felt bad to dissapoint her. I ordered up 3 tacos and they were the best tacos I have had in my entire life -that I remember. And the fact that I came across this purely by accident made it even better. Small corn tortillias, beef, with cillantro and onions, I topped them with sasuces and cut up vegetables and whatever they had on the table (have no idea what it was but I figured I would top it off with all the stuff they had) DAMN it was AWESOME. When I was done eating the 3 I wanted to get 2 more. But I didnt. Bearing in mind that I havent eaten since 12 noon today. I just loved the atmosphere, of the Mexican music blaring and loads of Mexicans standing around. Good stuff.

Shit maybe I will go back over right now and get 2 more...!

Saw this sign which is the funniest thing I have seen in a long time.

I had been going about an average of 6mph from about 6 miles away from the next exit (67)

Explains it all

The Traffic Jam

Back to it

Last night I stayed in Augusta, GA and then drove down to Woodbine, GA today. Did my work, and then got caught in a traffic jam. I was stuck trying to head back to Knoxville for 1.5 hours. So behind schedule, I have decided to stay here in Columbia, SC. But this means I will have to get up at 5 and leave at 6 in order to catch my flight at 13:30

Being here is odd as I was last here back in 1994 (basic training)

Some things have stayed the same and some things have changed.

Chattanooga, TN

Staying in Chattanooga, TN tonight. Tomorrow I make the trek south into Georgia. Its going to be a long day. I will see if I can make my way to Savannah by the end of the night. I have got loads of work to do. I don't really feel like eating dinner tonight. I don't really have much of a choice.

Airplane Comments

Airplane comments BOS-CLT

A few things I disliked about the flight from BOS to CLT:

  • Business pricks walking around the cabin with a cell phone after they have boarded and taken their seat. (One guy in particular)
  • People with HUGE ASS carry on items.
  • Rude people:

This one lady came on with a bad ass attitude. She was old and crabby. She had this huge ass carry on suitcase and she walked up the aisle with the flight attendant. They got to an open spot in the overhead storage and she then expected him to lift the bag up for her. He didn't though and offered to hold her coffee. She then complained about having a hernia and then bitched and moaned while she got it up there. She then made some bitchy comment similar to "are you gonna call the ambulance for me now?!" he then skillfully turned the whole thing around on her making her look like an ass. He said, "Well if you have a hernia then you should have checked such a big suitcase instead of carrying it on." She couldn't say shit and it was golden! The Flight attendant seemed like he was gay and he had a real sharp wit about him. Really good with words and he really put that bitch in her place :) She was crabby for the rest of the flight. She was sitting in the aisle directly next to me (sitting in the other aisle seat) Sitting next to her was a mom and her kid was sitting in the window. This kid closed the flap to the window right as we were taking off and the lady screams to him "No I want to look out!"
Funny funny moments.

Waiting

Already in a bad fucking mood I am sitting here in the terminal waiting to leave for a connecting flight. I woke up at 3am and left my house at 3:30. It was raining outside. I get to the ticket counter here at the airport and this nice guy says "Hey where are you going today?" I tell him and then he says "Well you can check in using these self serve stations." I think to myself "cool". So I go there and then it turns out since I am checking an extra bag, I can't use the station. The gate agent says "For extra bags go over there and see that attendant" So great I already have a session open at one automatic kiosk station and they want me to walk over to the ticket agent about 20 ft down the line. I go back to the screen and it says "Do you need more time?" I click "NO" and it then says "You have chosen to end your check-in session" Which was what I wanted.
On any other airline a bag that weighed under 70 lbs is not subject to overweight charges but for US Air (and fuck knows who else) charges for overweight above 50 lbs. Now I had to pack a shitload of stuff for my job and I weighed my one big suitcase last night and it was 65lbs. So not only do I have to pay for extra weight on one bag, but I have to pay for the extra bag as well, so I had to pay $105 extra. Now I am in a pissed off mood. I go through security that is not very busy. Its a good thing too cause I had to take off my shoes, hat, coat, laptop out of my backpack, etc etc etc I already know all of this cause I fly constantly. I go through the transition fairly quickly and then the guy at TSA makes me show him my ID again. I have no problem with this at all. I am just pissed about the extra bags deal.
This place smells like a hospital. Terminal B sucks hardcore. That's about it really.

Leave tomorrow morning for Knoxville, TN. Going to spend this week in "The south".

Will update at will. Turns out my email posting doesn't work. Or you may see the post come up delayed like it has before in the past.

Some people do not deserve to live Part 2

The most disturbing part of the article:

The woman became alarmed and tipped off police after she saw that one of the other chat room participant intended to kill her two children before taking her own life.

Upon his arrest, Krein told investigators that he had succeeded in soliciting suicides from at least 31 chat room participants.

So far, investigators have tracked down four women: the woman who first came forward in Canada and three others, living in Oregon, Missouri, Virginia.

"In the Missouri and Virginia case, he was inviting them to bring their children with them," said Evinger. "It would have been four children total," he said.

The whole article:

Police say they've found mother of baby tossed from car

Friday, February 11, 2005 Posted: 1:09 PM EST (1809 GMT)

FORT LAUDERDALE, Florida (CNN) -- Authorities have located the birth mother of the baby tossed from a moving vehicle Thursday in Florida, Broward County Sheriff Ken Jenne said Friday.

Authorities said the baby is in remarkably good shape in a hospital.

Jenne told reporters a woman had been questioned in connection with the case.

"It is my belief ... that this person is the birth mother of the child. It puts a whole new light on the story as we're going forward and we will proceed. But we do believe at this point, or at least I believe from the information our detectives have, that ... we will soon have an admission to the birth of the child," he said.

The 8-pound, 2-ounce boy was only hours old when he was tossed from a car in Fort Lauderdale on Thursday, and still had his umbilical cord attached, authorities said.

A woman who brought the baby to police told the Broward Sheriff's Office that she was driving about 2:30 p.m. in a residential area in northern Fort Lauderdale when she saw a man and a woman who appeared to be in their late teens or early 20s arguing in a car. The car slowed to about 5 miles an hour and a bundle flew out of the window and landed about three feet away on grass by the road, she said.

She saw movement and stopped, expecting to find puppies or kittens. Instead, she found a tiny baby boy.

"The baby had a plastic bag over its head," said Jenne, "a plastic bag like from a food store ... wrapped around the head of the baby."

The baby was flown via helicopter to Broward Medical Center in critical condition but "was later upgraded to serious and continues to improve" in the hospital's neonatal care unit, according to a statement from the Broward Sheriff's Office.

Authorities released a description of the couple in the car and are asking for the public's help in finding them.

According to the Broward Sheriff's Office: "Just prior to the newborn being tossed out of the car, the female witness observed the black male driver with an Afro hairstyle and white female passenger with braids arguing." They were in an older model white car, perhaps a Ford Crown Victoria.

While lamenting that a parent would do such a thing to an infant, Jenne said, "The good news is that we have a human being ... someone in this community who has the heart and soul to pick up a baby and save it."

Pair accused of child torture arrested in Utah/Florida officials say 5 of 7 children suffered starvation, abuse
Saturday, February 5, 2005 Posted: 6:42 AM EST (1142 GMT)

(CNN) -- A Florida couple accused of torturing and starving five of their seven children were taken into custody Friday night in Utah after detectives were able to track their cell phone signals, authorities said.

Capt. Jim Cernich of the Sheriff's Office in Citrus County, Florida, said deputies in San Juan County, Utah, apprehended Linda Dollar, 51, and John Dollar, 58, on a road after recognizing their gold 2000 Lexus sport utility vehicle.

The Dollars face charges in Citrus County, where they lived in Beverly Hills, on one count of aggravated child abuse/torture for all five children.

The accusations include pulling out the children's toenails with pliers and keeping them so malnourished they "looked like pictures from Auschwitz," authorities said...

That and the stories we heard about a dumb bitch who went to a lady's house to kill the lady and then cut out her unborn child. People like that do not deserve to live. If they are to live, they should be sent to Louisiana to bust rocks for the rest of their lives with the mosquitoes and the aligators. And be fed Bread, veggies and water for the rest of their lives as well.

EDIT: OK that part about them tossing a baby out the car ended up being fake...CA

Snowed

Snowed last night a little. It has gotten cold again, after our warm spell. Well today is Friday and as Friday's go, I am not excited in the least. I like working at night in offices, jamming to my own music. Because otherwise I would just be sitting at home (loser) but give me a break I have a kid!

Anyway, I will be working again tonight and these people in these offices will most likely be fucking SLOBS. I wonder what gets in people's minds that they feel the need to just throw shit on the floor. Just because you work there doesn't entitle you to trash the fucking place! I have got a few pictures I will upload when I have time. Messy ass mofos!

Also I don't know what it is, but the women's bathroom always seems to be much more clean then the men's. It may be due to there being more men at these offices, but the men's seems like a bunch of chimps were let loose. Paper all over the floor, all kinds of shit.

Sweet

A cool ass site with some bomb ass maps:

http://maps.google.com/

Google kicks ass.

Now the only beef I have with these maps is that there is no Long/Lat and there is no map scale but overall they blow mapquest and expedia away.

Now for your international needs, multimap is quite good. They have aerial photos of the UK and good maps of everywhere else. I heard of one incident though where they were off (Belgium).

But the aerial photo feature is sweet. Just zoom into say, London close, and click on the aerial photo icon, then mouse over the aerial photo and you see a ghost image of the map. Sweet.

Great music

This set is a collection of music from the 20th Century. Brilliant how they mix lyrics with music from completely different genres. There is a bit that is dull, like the history of Electronic music, but the Eminem mixed in with old ragtime piano or Queens' "We will rock you" set to Reggae is awesome!

Found a set of keys

Back in September I lost a set of keys. It scared me cause this set had a single dog tag I had from the army. The dog tag had

LAST NAME
FIRST NAME
SSN#
BLOOD TYPE
RELIGION

But as I was installing Daniella's new car seat in the car, I slid the driver's seat all the way forward to give me some room. I found the keys that I lost back in September in the track of the seat!

So that was a huge relief. There is no thug-ass punk out there looking to steal my identity.

The Superbowl

I watched the superbowl in my livingroom alone, well, Daniella was sitting in my lap. The Pats won which is good.

Now back at work and going to get busy again. I decided to stow away my docking station and monitor and just use my laptop on my desk here.

We bought a new car seat for Daniella yesterday, it was a "convertible" one.

Also looked at pricing for a digital camera. Now I am using the one I use for work (2MP) and the 3.2MPs are coming down in price now so...

Anyway got to get to work.

Pissed off

I just typed up a good post and then something fucked up and now it didn't post

pisses me off.

Not good

As I suspected the review didn't go too good. I am a bit pissed off and I guess I should start doing something about it. Turn that frustration into motivation. (like that stupid twat from the Cortislim commercials says)

Anyway enough about that. I have a nice clean environment to work in and need to shift into 5th gear. Life is never fair I have come to find.

Dave from my 2nd job called last night while I was feeding Daniella. I didn't answer the phone. He said he had two issues to discuss. One was my note I left him and the other was "scheduling"

I left him a note asking why he docked my gas reimbursement from $20 to $10 even though the mileage was the same. I will wait to see what he says when I call him after lunch.

I called up this guy named Wade who works in Boulder to confirm that I was not going to be going to Washington, D.C. next week. So that I can tell Dave the right answer when I call him. I would like to take the freaking train to DC but my job being fast paced, that shit wouldn't work. Well it may but I have to see how long the Acela takes to get there...

... OK if I leave South Station at 6am I would get in WDC Union Station at 2pm ...not bad.

Anyway its lunch time so I am out...
