Then I was angry again because I just handed over enough money for 7.59 Boxes of Diapers (88 ct) or the equivalent of 85 half-gallon containers of milk. The equivalent of 75 gallons of Unleaded gas (at today's prices)

Oh yes I got caught in a speed trap and am extremely pissed off about it. I went to their "Court" tonight and will write more about it later. This is one big huge sick joke. And that fat fucking bastard of a mayor is laughing his ass off. The below story is only copied in case they close the link. The sad thing is the "Good ol' boys" in Robertson County have reinstated this racist fat fuck. Read on. There will be a critical analysis of this whole procedure by me in the near future.

The city’s police budget has nearly tripled, from $155,880 during the last year to $451,550 this fiscal year. The town budget plans on between $400,000 and $800,000 in traffic court revenues, comprising over one third of the city budget. This percentage is much higher than that of many larger U.S. cities.
Mayor Crosby is accused of misusing the city’s power, disgracing the office of the mayor, and multiple violations of the public trust including:

Dell officially sucks
I was typing away last night on my laptop and then I suddenly notice that there is a battery icon in my tray icon list. I checked that the power didn't slip out like it always does. I was lose. I snapped it back in place but I still saw a battery icon. I looked down at my Dell power adapter and the status light was out. I switched to a different outlet, a known good outlet (the night light on the kitchen counter was plugged in and working, so I unplugged that light and plugged the laptop power adapter into that outlet) and still, the status light was off. I then disconnected the AC portion from the adapter and measured the output of the AC cord and it came back with an obvious 125VAC So the problem is in the adapter itself.
Of course its Saturday night at 11:30 PM and so tech support and PC support (for work) will not be in until Monday. I of course need the laptop for work purposes before then and whenever they can ship me a replacement.
So I went to the local Radio Shack and bought one of those Juice iGo Power things which -really is a beautiful product. Also simple and easy design. I love the idea of using one power adapter for everything. I took it home excited.
Unwrapped it, this thing looks nice and will undoubtedly perform. It has a lovely blue status light and it also has a protective lining that feels smooth, like a thin veneer. It comes with a wall cord so you can plug it into the wall. It comes with a car cord so you can unplug the wall cord and plug this car cord and bam! you can use it in the car without those pesky power inverters (Love that!) and lastly, if you unplug the car plug it is now a standard airplane plug so you can use it on those long flights to Australia! I am thinking Awesome!
It complies with all the standards of any power supply. Basically a solid product Sure to be a winner. Then I plug it into the laptop and I start my usual Sunday night work.
I remember that my battery was at 89% because it hadn't been long from when I discovered it bad to when I shut my laptop down. I see some BIOS warning to the effect of that it isnt the normal Dell charger yadda yadda yadda. So anyway I notice there is no charge icon on the battery just a "On AC power" and so I look and notice that the battery is not charging.
So I then look at the box it came with and see this (read the fine yellow print under Dell)
The yellow words say "Note: Tip 20 will only power your notebook. It will not charge the battery." Notice that tip 20 is only for Dell computers.
I was infuriated. I started looking online for a hack, a mod I could do to make it charge the battery. There must be some way to shut off that AC power detection. If there is a hack, I have yet to find it. It turns out this is entirely the fault of Dell and not the Juice company. So a big FUCK YOU goes out to the Dell corporation for limiting the use of battery charging to only Dell chargers. The assholes probably rigged it so it would go off just outside of warranty (It is a work PC that was acquired in FEB 2006).
So I just bought the wonderfully working adapter that doesn't work with dells. And it wasn't cheap.
I look at the return policy and it says I can return it within 30 days. The guy in the store sold it to me -probably knowing that it wouldn't charge the battery on my Dell but sold it to me anyway.
They are going to get a big FAT return this week.

Well Ashley found a 4-leaf clover yesterday. Now the "good luck", that is yet to be found. Daniella is going through a terrible phase where she whines and cries for hours at a time. She is sweet when she wants to be. Like tonight. She was awful all the way home and also when I was trying to give her a bath. But after that all it took was her picking out her drink and she stopped crying and whining immediately. She was perfect when I read her her bedtime story. And also laying down.
The "terrible twos" are beyond terrible.

We ordered a mattress topper that comprised of Memory foam. This King size mattress topper was not only late, but it was also lost, and now on arrival, damaged. I refused to accept it from DHL and so DHL is going to take it back to the sender (the vendor) and then we will see about getting it replaced at DHL's expense. Note that I took this before refusing so you can see DHL guy's legs.

A hijack-proof piloting system for airliners is being developed to prevent terrorists repeating the 9/11 outrages.
The mechanism is designed to make it impossible to crash the aircraft into air or land targets - and enable the plane to be flown by remote control from the ground in the event of an emergency.
Scientists at aircraft giant Boeing are testing the tamper-proof autopilot system which uses state-of-the-art computer and satellite technology.
It will be activated by the pilot flicking a simple switch or by pressure sensors fitted to the cockpit door that will respond to any excessive force as terrorists try to break into the flight deck.
Once triggered, no one on board will be able to deactivate the system. Currently, all autopilots are manually switched on and off at the discretion of pilots.

Getta getta Garmin!
I am so excited about this. I used to use the Garmin GPS V at Vaisala. It was great. This new unit is so user friendly, almost too user friendly. I love it. It couldn't be easier. It also gets a signal from inside a house.
I have been playing around with the storage capacity of it, been putting some of Daniella's photos on it. Since I have the iPod I probably won't put any music on it but I may use it for podcasts.

Internet access again
This week I have had Internet access as seen on my flickr site but I have had little time to use it. Getting back to the hotel late every night has made doing anything but work nearly impossible. On top of that the hotel's wireless connection is not reliable. It has gone out in the last 3 days. I am now using a 802.11g booster. My room sits right on top of the router and the wireless does not work all the time.
I had lots I wanted to blog about as well. From the bullshit pay-wireless in the Nashville airport to the highlights of this trip. I may type this stuff out tomorrow and if the wireless in Baltimore-Washington Airport is free, it will be posted. But who knows.
So I am going to copy this, just in cast the wireless connection dies or has died while I was typing this and publish it. If the wireless connection has gone out again I am going to be extremely pissed off.

Don't Leave
Yesterday, Daniella got sad that I had to leave for work and I promised her I would get to spend Saturday (today) with her. Then I get a phone call at 10 this morning, after breakfast and when I was at that point where I was just about to enjoy the Saturday off, (my last full day here in TN for a week). Seems at work they wanted me to hit a job today. I was mostly mad I had to turn down this sad face. Especially after I had promised her I would be with her today. I was pissed off. I know I signed on to this job but my time off should be my time off. As it turns out, after looking at the online schedule, everyone except one guy here in Nashville was working today. I guess I missed that memo. I will be booking some fat ass overtime!
